Summary:
Conduction. The main task of effective management of a medical organization is to achieve high results. In-depth analysis of statistical data contributes to better organization of work and rational management decisions. The search for new approaches to assessing the effectiveness of medical organizations remains relevant.
Goal. To evaluate the efficiency of the surgical departments of a multidisciplinary hospital in the Astrakhan region using integrated indicators.
Materials and methods. The study was carried out using a continuous method, statistical data from the medical information system for 2024 were analyzed, including 16215 cases of hospitalization in surgical departments of the regional clinical hospital. Modern general scientific methods were used: statistical, analytical and comparative analysis.
Results. The conducted assessment of the effectiveness of the surgical departments based on the analysis of integral indicators with their subsequent distribution by rank places allowed us to determine that the work of the following departments can be considered the most effective: ophthalmology (0.90), maxillofacial surgery (0.87) and otolaryngology (0.80). The least successful may be assessed as the work of the burn (0.42), surgical (0.47) and neurosurgical (0.56) departments.
Discussion. Evaluation of the work of surgical departments based on the analysis of the main indicators of their activity does not provide grounds for identifying the most effective of them. Comparing departments with each other based on these indicators is impossible due to the significant variability of certain indicators.
Conclusion. The lack of a unified methodology aimed at assessing the effectiveness of medical organizations as a whole and their individual divisions leads to the search for such methods taking into account regional characteristics and the types of medical care provided. Improved analysis of statistical data enables the most appropriate management decisions to be made, thereby increasing the efficiency of inpatient departments.
Keywords efficiency, integral indicator, bed turnover, average duration of treatment, average annual bed occupancy, surgical activity, mortality
