PREGNANCY COMPLICATIONS IN OBSTETRIC INSTITUTIONS OF THE KAMCHATKA TERRITORY IN 2024: A CROSS-SECTIONAL STUDY

Introduction. Preeclampsia, hypertension, and diabetes mellitus are among the common diseases that negatively affect pregnancy and outcomes. The aim of the trial was to study the frequency of complications that occur during pregnancy and childbirth in the Kamchatka Territory (KT). Materials and methods. A cross-sectional trial was conducted using a continuous sample of patients based on the reports of the maternity hospitals of KT in accordance with the completed forms 32 and the insert form 32. Results. According to the order in the KT, premature and normal births are routed to the KTMH, pregnant women with extragenital pathology to CH No.2 (both are second–level medical institutions), healthy women - to the ERB (first-level medical institutions). In 2024, there were 2,699 births in the KK, and 2,731 children were born. The EDH has 27 beds for pregnant women, 358 deliveries (8 premature), 366 children (6 underweight) were born. 8 women had preeclampsia (PE), 39 had hypertension (AH). 71 cesarean section (CS) operations were performed. CH No. 2 has 39 beds for pregnant women, 741 deliveries (48 premature) have been accepted. 747 children were born (41 underweight). PE was detected in 29 pregnant women, AH in 79, pregestational diabetes mellitus (PDM) in 18, and gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) in 171. 264 CS operations were performed. The KTMH has 65 beds for pregnant women, 1,556 births (117 premature), and 1,577 children were born. 102 women had PE, 100 had AH, and 20 had GDM. 496 CS operations were performed. In total, 135 cases of PE, 181 premature births, and 847 CS operations were recorded in the KT. 154 small children were born alive. Normal births accounted for 744 cases, AH was detected in 7%, PDM in 0.7%, and GDM in 7.9%. Discussion. Premature birth occurs in 6.7% of women in labor. The proportion of underweight children is 5.6%. PE was detected in 5% of births, AH – in 7%, PDM – 0.7%. GDM - 7.9%. CS was performed in 31.4% of all births. Normal births accounted for 27.6% of all births in the KT. Conclusions. The frequency of PE, AH, PDM, GDM, CS, premature birth, premature babies corresponds to the literature data. The frequency of bleeding in the postpartum period is lower than global values.
