Summary:
Introduction (relevance). The article is devoted to the role of medical statistics in healthcare system management, emphasising the importance of using statistical data to assess the efficiency of resource utilisation. The complex structure of the healthcare system includes a significant volume of various resources, such as medical organisations, personnel, medical devices, finances, etc. The level of efficiency in using these resources has a direct impact on the accessibility and quality of medical care, as well as on the population’s satisfaction with healthcare services. Thus, an objective assessment of the efficiency of available resource utilisation becomes one of the key elements in managing the healthcare sector. Purpose: To identify the main approaches and recommendations for applying medical statistics in assessing the efficiency of healthcare system resource utilisation. Materials and methods. Data from federal statistical monitoring forms in the healthcare sector were used. The study employed methods of analysis and synthesis for modelling processes and phenomena, as well as descriptive statistics methods. Results and discussion. Key indicators used to analyse the efficiency of the resource component in the healthcare sector have been identified and described. These include human resources, the state of the material and technical base of medical organisations, and the efficiency of using the planned capacities of outpatient clinics and hospitals. Calculation methodologies are presented, along with the principles for interpreting the obtained data. Conclusions (conclusion). Medical statistics is an effective tool for making well‑reasoned management decisions and helps optimise resource utilisation in the healthcare system. Future research should focus on developing new analysis and forecasting methodologies adapted to current trends in medical development and technological advancements.
