THE IMPACT OF VISUAL DEFICITS ON THE VIABILITY OF ELDERLY PATIENTS AT CRITICAL POINTS OF AGING

Summary:
Introduction. Older people are a vulnerable population group that faces particular challenges and problems associated with age and declining health. Critical life points in older people are moments when their bodies are most vulnerable and affect their quality of life. Personal perceptions, attitudes, expectations and lifestyle, psychological stability, sleep quality and depression influence the quality of life of older people. The higher the severity of depressive symptoms, the worse the quality of life, but it has rarely been studied in patients with visual impairment.
The aim of the study to learn the critical points of viability in elderly patients with visual impairment and to identify the relationship between various mental or psychiatric diseases.
Material and methods. A correlation analysis of key variables was carried out and the relationship between different variables was revealed. We conducted several tests to identify cognitive impairment, depression and learned about the quality of people's sleep.
The results of the study. As a result of the study, 2,646 elderly people underwent 40,5% of men and 59,5% of women, whose average age was 69,69 ± 6,22 years. More than half of the respondents had no physical activity and had a normal sleep quality.
