Summary:
Introduction. Psoriasis occupies a special place among chronic dermatological diseases, as it combines a significant medical and social burden. The chronic course, the need for long-term therapy, comorbid conditions, and the high risk of disability create a complex of problems for patients that go beyond the medical sphere. The socioeconomic significance of psoriasis manifests itself both in the deterioration of patients' quality of life and in the increase in healthcare system costs and society as a whole. The aim of the study was to examine the medical and social aspects of psoriasis. Material and methods. A bibliosemantic analysis of literary sources was conducted using the databases Scopus, Web of Science, MedLine, The Cochrane Library, EMBASE, Global Health, CyberLeninka, RSCI, and eLibrary.ru. 255 publications were selected using the keywords psoriasis, social and economic aspects, and disability, including 188 foreign sources. This paper provides a detailed analysis of twenty-three. Results. One of the most tangible aspects is the limitation of physical activity. Social stigma is an equally important factor. The psychoemotional consequences of psoriasis include depression, anxiety disorders, and decreased self-esteem. Reduced productivity is observed in both mild and severe cases of the disease. The economic burden of psoriasis consists of direct medical expenses, indirect costs associated with disability, and intangible costs that reflect a decrease in quality of life. Conclusions. Thus, psoriasis is a disease with a high socioeconomic burden. Its cost to society is not only made up of medical expenses, but also of losses associated with disability and reduced quality of life, which makes the problem complex and requires intersectoral solutions.
Keywords psoriasis, social, economic aspects, disability
