Summary:
Introduction. The work efficiency, physical and mental well-being of the head of a medical organization play an important role in ensuring the successful and sustainable functioning of the institution, which, in turn, has an impact on the entire healthcare system as a whole. Chief medical officers perform their professional duties daily under conditions of increased stress, which inevitably affects their health. As part of the study "Portrait of the chief Physician", information on the factors contributing to the development of chronic noncommunicable diseases among the heads of medical organizations was studied and analyzed. The purpose of the study is to analyze the totality of parameters that determine the state of health of heads of medical organizations, as well as to assess their commitment to the principles of a healthy lifestyle. Materials and methods. The study used a questionnaire method consisting of 63 questions and four blocks. A total of 2,462 chief physicians participated, 1,135 of them were women and 1,327 men. Results. The most common risk factors for chronic non-communicable diseases among the chief physicians who participated in this study (n=2,462) were poor nutrition (34.1%), hypertension (32.8%) and obesity (27.8%). Next, in descending order of prevalence, were physical inactivity (20.7%), excessive alcohol consumption (15.7%), smoking (14.8%), hyperglycemia (10.9%) and hypercholesterolemia (4.1%). The most significant parameters influencing the presence of risk factors were expected to be: gender, physical activity level, and age. A link has been identified between the presence of risk factors for chronic noncommunicable diseases and the peculiarities of interaction between chief physicians and patients and subordinates. Conclusion. In order to prevent the risks of chronic non-communicable diseases among chief physicians, it is necessary to develop other options in addition to standard communication approaches. Team management training will reduce the managerial burden on specialists and manage the team more effectively.
