Summary:
Introduction. According to the 2015 census, about 36% of the adult population of Russia suffer from chronic diseases that prevent them from leading a normal life. Of all people, 29.4% need help with everyday activities. However, these data are based on patients' personal opinions about whether they need help, so you can't rely on them completely. But they can give an indication that some older people may need help with everyday activities, although experts do not always agree with this view. However, it is worth noting that consideration should be given to the long-term care needs of patients' relatives and social workers. The aim of the study was to assess the need for long-term care and to investigate the opinion of elderly patients and their relatives and social service workers about the need for their participation in long-term care. Materials and methods. Survey, questionnaire, analytical research methods, and the method of expert judgement were used. A total of 115 elderly patients undergoing undergoing treatment at the Gerontology Centre at the multidisciplinary hospital in Tarko-Sale, YNAO, 85 relatives of patients and 82 social workers. Results. Our results are consistent with international research. We used the same GALI questions to measure limitations in daily activity and saw that people in Russia experience declining health at a younger age than in other EU countries. A possible reason is the lower average life expectancy in our country. According to the study, in 2019, only 7.8% of citizens over the age of 65 who needed such assistance received it from social workers. 40% of people received help from nursing home nurses, attending physicians or other specialists. Most people (about 60%) turn to their relatives and friends for help with medical procedures. Discussion. By 2022, the demand for long-term care services has increased, but only 12.5% of people have received help. Research shows that information technology helps older people cope with daily chores and stay at home. They also help to avoid the need to move to care facilities. Conclusion. The overall satisfaction with the long-term care service performed is higher among the social service workers who provide it. The patients' relatives assessed the work of the long-term care system more critically. About a third of social service workers (32.5%) and about a quarter of patients' relatives (26.1%) believe that standardization of services is related to the safety of clients and can have a positive impact on their health. More than half of social service workers (48.6%) and relatives (52.1%) believe that standardization helps to provide the same services to all clients with the same needs, as well as helps to combat inequality and avoid unjustified expenses.
