Summary:
A particularly significant clinical problem associated with functional limitations, comorbid psychological disorders (depression, anxiety), cognitive impairments and sleep disorders is chronic pain syndrome (CBS), which affects elderly patients. Obesity often accompanies chronic pain and is closely related to the functional and psychological complications caused by pain.
The aim of the study was to determine the contribution of obesity to the formation of the relationship between psychological factors and chronic pain syndrome in elderly patients.
Materials and methods. A single-stage cohort study conducted in 2022-2024 on the basis of the MC "Aldomed" and the medical rehabilitation center "Steps" (LLC "Medical Practice") included 137 patients (average age 68.5±5.1 years. Of these, 93 are women (67.9%) and 44 are men (32.1%). 74 people (54.0%) were obese (body mass index ≥ 30 kg/m2). In accordance with the goal, 2 groups were formed: group 1 – without obesity with CKD (OJ-/CKD+, n=63), group 2 – with obesity and CKD (OJ+/CKD+, n=74).
