Summary:
Relevance. The effective functioning of the Russian healthcare system requires addressing workforce challenges, particularly in radiology, which accounts for over 80% of diagnostic procedures. The uneven distribution of specialists across regions (with disparities reaching 3–4-fold differences) reduces the accessibility of care. The national "Healthcare" project and education reforms prioritize workforce development but require effectiveness analysis.. Оbjective. To analyse the provision of medical organisations with staff resources of the radial diagnostics service in the Russian Federation as a whole for 2019-2023. Materials and methods. The data of the federal statistical observation form No. 30 «Information about a medical organization» for 2019-2023 were analyzed, with calculation of intensive and extensive indicators. Statistical and analytical methods were applied. Results and discussion. Analysis of the staffing of the radiology diagnostics service in Russia for 2019-2023 revealed positive dynamics in the number of radiologists (growth from 17,244 to 18,149 people), doctors for X-ray endovascular methods of diagnostics and treatment (increase by 32.1%) and ultrasound diagnostics doctors (increase by 5.1%). However, the number of radiologists decreased by 40.8 per cent, which led to a decrease in the number of radiologists from 0.06 to 0.035 per 10,000 population. Conclusions. From 2019 to 2023, most radiology specialties saw workforce growth, except for radiation therapists (−40.8%). High workload ratios and regional disparities highlight the need for optimized workforce distribution, particularly in the North Caucasus and Far Eastern Federal Districts.
